Lessons From The Recent Past
Updated On: Jun 25, 2012

This is a letter mailed out by "Doherty for Mayor" during the last election. As you can see he is quoted as saying he did not have any plans to close firehouses, when in fact on January 1, 2011 he disbanded Engine Co. 9 on North main Ave, Engine 10 in East Mountain and Engine Co. 15 on Ash St in the Hill Section. He also closes companies daily, sometimes up to 4 additional "brown outs".  In addition, he recently re-opened Engine 10 in East Mountain but only after 7 families lost their homes because of reduced response times. Chris Doherty and Fire Chief Tom Davis assured us the closures would not effect response times and assured us it was only "scare tactics" on behalf of the fire fighters.  Just like he assured us during his last re-election he would not close fire stations or companies. Read it for yourself and decide who was "misleading or downright false" to the public.
