Smokey Fire on Valentine's Day 2/14/2016 (PHOTOS)

On 5:09 pm on February 14, 2016 a fire was reported at 1404 W. Locust St. Engine Co. 7, Engine Co. 4, Rescue Co. 1, Truck Co. 2 and Car 21 were dispatched. Comm Center reported that they were receiving multiple calls which prompted the assistant chief to activate the SRN which added Engine Co. 2,Engine Co. 8 Car 5, Car 22 and Car 26 to the incident. Engine Co. 7 arrived on scene and the officer reported heavy smoke coming from a one and half story wood frame home, B-shift crews stretched three 1 3/4" attack hose lines into the smoke charged building to attack the flames. Firefighters had to battle not only the flames but single digit temperatures to bring this fire under control. Fire Inspector #3 and #4 were called to the scene and 3 companies were called on from C-shift to staff spare apparatus. All companies were back in service by 8:20 pm.
