Woman Rescued From the Roof of Her Burning Home 1/10/2016 (PHOTOS)
Posted On: Jan 10, 2016

On January 10, 2016 a fire was reported at 1:24 am for 933  Monroe Ave.  Engine Co. 4, Engine Co. 8, Rescue Co. 1, Truck Co. 2 and Car 21 were dispatched.  The dispatcher for Comm. Center reported that the female caller was trapped in her bedroom of the home and that she could not find her way out.  Rescue Co. 1 arrived on scene and reported a smoke condition, this prompted the assistant chief to activate the SRN which added Engine Co.10 and Engine Co. 2 to the scene.  B-Shift firefighters found a fully involved basement fire with smoke filling the entire single family two and a half story structure.  Once on scene firefighters used a ground ladder to safely bring the victim down from the porch roof.  A second alarm was tapped out which brought Engine Co. 7, Fire Inspector #2, Car 5, Car 22, and Car 26 to the scene.  Two supply lines and three 1 3/4" attack lines ultimately defeated the flames.  A family pet was also safely pulled from the building.  Two companies were put into service using staff from A- shift, and by 4:17 am all companies were back in service.

The Officer in Charge was Assistant Chief J. Floryshak
