Attack 1

Attack 1 is a 1993 four wheel drive Dodge with a Reading Box and carries 200 gallons of water. This piece is requested whenever needed if an incident such as a car fire or brush fire is in a remote location.  Also in the event of inclement weather Attack 1 will be utilized to respond from Fire Headquarters attatched to all alarms. Attack 1 is stored at Engine 7.


 

 Engine 1 

Engine 1 is a 1984 Young / Spartan and carries 1250 gallons of water. In 2007 this pumper was purchased from the Jonesville VFD in NY.  Engine 1 is one of two spare pumpers maintained by the department.  This piece will be placed in service if any of the frontline engines need to be taken out of service for repairs. And in the event of a second alarm fire it can be placed in service to reinforce staffing and fire protection for the city.  Engine 1 is stored  at Engine 2


Engine 11

Engine 11 is a 1990 Sutphen with a 1500 gpm pump and a 750 gallon tank. This piece was first delivered in 1990 as Rescue 1. After the arrival of a new Rescue in 1995 it would be reassigned as Engine 8 and would remain there until taken out of service. Engine 11 is one of two spare pumpers maintained by the department. This piece will be placed in service if any of the frontline engines need to be taken out of service for repairs. And in the event of a second alarm fire it can be placed in service to reinforce staffing and fire protection for the city. Engine 1 is stored at Engine 9


Truck 1

A 1986 Sutphen 100’+ tower with a 1500 gpm pump with a 250 gallon tank. This piece was formerly Truck 2 and after the arrival of the new Ferrara Ladder in 2003 was placed out of service and utilized as the spare ladder.  This is the only spare ladder the department operates. This piece will be placed in service if either of the frontline trucks need to be taken out of service for repairs. And in the event of a second alarm fire it can be placed in service to reinforce staffing and fire protection for the city. Truck 1 is stored  at Engine 7.

 


 Car 30

Car 30 is a 1975 International Harvester cargo star1850b with Reading body. It is utilized as the departments Mobile Air Unit and is equipped with a Scott Revolve Air System supplied by 8 - 6000 psi air cylinders. Car30 is also stocked with spare air packs and cyliders.  This piece will be called to any incident that requires lengthy use of SCBA's and is dispatched to all second alarm fires.  Car 30 is stored at Engine 8.

 


 Car 30a

This 1973 Dodge Boyertown step van, originally the Scranton Police Department’s Scuba Van and formerly used as our Mobile Air Command.  Now used as the departments Structural Collapse Unit and given the designation Car 30a. This unit operates to support Rescue 1 in the event of an emergency involving a strucutral collapse or trench rescue.  Car 30a carries 6 trench panels, a variety of heavy timbers, a cut station and all other necessary equipment and supplies for this type of incident.  This unit is stored at Rescue 1.  

 


 Car 26

Car 26 is a 1997 Ford Expedition and is used by the Deputy Chief.  This piece was formerly used as Car 21 and was reassigned as Car 26.

 


 Car 27

The Master Mechanic uses the deignation Car 27 and is provided with a pickup truck.  In the event of a second alarm fire the Master Mechanic will respond to the scene with Car 30.

 


 Fire Investigation Division

 The Fire Inspectors are issued city vehicles with following designations,

Inspector 1 - Car 28

Inspector 2 - Car 25

Inspector 3 - Car 11

Inspector 4 -The Scranton Police Fire Marshall attatched to the Fire Investigation Divison, also has a city vehicle but it carries no fire deptartment designation .
